Make a Final Exam Study Plan

Whether it’s final exam time or mid-term season, it’s time to put what you’ve learned to the test. The pressure is on! Preparation is key when it comes to studying for final exams so a well-thought-out study game plan should be part of your prep.

Start Studying Early

Know your final exam schedule. Study the schedule!  When you know what’s coming up next, you’ll never be cramming the night before an exam. You’ll almost always perform better in doing so!

Go Deeper Than The Study Guide

Study guides aren’t always comprehensive – they’re just suggestions of the main concepts to learn. Use your study guide for its intended purpose: a guide. Be sure to fill in the blanks with related information.

Prioritize What Material To Study

Don’t just start from the beginning of your notes and try to cram everything in: Think about what you know for sure will be on each test and review that material first. Then move on to studying what will probably be on the test, then what might be covered. That way, if you run out of time, you know you at least have the basics nailed. Splitting the material into chunks you can actually achieve can be very beneficial. That way, you can keep track of what you’ve accomplished instead of looking at the big picture and getting overwhelmed.

Study The Hardest Classes First

Whatever course gave you the most trouble, devote more time to that subject—even if it’s your last final. Look over your previous tests for the year, if you scored poorly on one, chances are you didn’t absorb it all the first time. Take extra time now to review what you missed. By starting with the toughest stuff first, you have time to ask for more clarification on a subject.

Remember preparation is key. Prepare your mind and your body, rest up and get it done – this too shall pass. Happy Studying!
